How General motor diet plan is Originated?

The original GM diet plan was developed by General Motors with the help of
Food and Drugs administration for their employees in 1985 and the idea was a
success , and the purpose of carrying out this diet plan was to achieve
employees who are healthy which will improve their efficiency at work .As a result by the
end of the first week, the employees lost up to 17 lbs (7.7 kgs).

7 Day GM Diet Plan for weight loss


The GM Diet Plan is focused on ensuring the consumption of complex carbs, along
with low-calorie foods. This combined with an increased water intake can result in a
significant weight loss in the span of a week. The idea is to limit one’s weekly diet to
just fruits, vegetables, brown rice, and chicken. The plan, initially designed for the
employees of General Motors, is as shown below as 7 days diet plan for weight loss
Day Meal

Day 1

1-All fruits – except bananas
2-Recommended fruits-watermelon
3-8 to 12 glasses of water

Day 2

1-Large boiled potato
2-Cooked or uncooked vegetables of your choice without oil
3- 8 to 12 glasses of water

Day 3

1-All fruits – except bananas
2-Cooked or uncooked vegetables (except potatoes) of your choice without oil
3- 8 to 12 glasses of water

Day 4

1-8 to 10 bananas
2- 3 to 4 glasses of milk

1- 6 tomatoes
2-One cup of brown rice

Day 1 Diet

Fruits for day 1

Start your day by consuming different types of fruits , and you can have as many
as fruits you want to eat on the first day of the diet . Because citrus fruits are
highly recommended for effective weight loss as they are rich in fiber , you can also include apples and
kiwi in your diet .

8:00 AM

  • 1 medium apple
    1 orange
  • 10:30 AM 1⁄2 bowl of sliced muskmelon
  • 12:30 PM 1 bowl of watermelon

4:00 PM

  • 1 large orange or any other fruit of your choice

6:30 PM

  • 1 cup of muskmelon and pomegranate salad or any other fruit of your choice

8:30 PM

  • 1⁄2 cup of watermelon

an individual’s calorie intake. The high water intake will also serve to flush out the

Avoid bananas on the first day of your weight loss program

Day 2 Diet

The second day requires you to consume only vegetables , you can eat them raw or
you can even cook them but make sure they are cooked in very less amount of oil because
using more oil can interfere with good weight loss results.

Day 3 Diet

On the 3rd day you are allowed to eat a combination of fruits and vegetables . You can
have anything you wish except potatoes and bananas . The combination of consuming
fruits and vegetables together provides your body with good fiber and protein .
Now your body is getting used to a new diet and it is important for 7 day diet plan for weight loss , so you need to make sure you take 7- 8
glasses of water everyday to remove all the toxins in your body . On the 3rd day you
can even try to include vegetable soup in your diet for a change .

  • 1 cup of pineapple or pear

12:30 PM

Day 4 Diet

Now finally the 4th day , the bananas which were avoided for 4 days will be consumed
today . One needs to consume at least 6 to 8 bananas during the day .Along with

bananas you can consume a glass of milk also along with it and you can divide the
consumption of bananas and milk throughout the day like for breakfast , lunch and
dinner .
Because Bananas help in digestion as they contain pectin and also they contain the energy , one
must require to make it through the day .

  • Milkshake (2 bananas + 1 glass of milk + a dash of cocoa

Day 5 Diet

On day 5 , a vegetarian should consume a bowl of brown rice and for the non
vegetarians they can consume 500 g chicken or fish and along with this they also
need to eat 6 tomatoes in a day .

Day 6 is similar to day 5 , you need to consume vegetables and brown rice and
nonvegetarians can ofcourse consume a 500 g piece of chicken or fish , but no need
to consume tomatoes today.

On finally the last day , day 7 you need to consume vegetables , a cup of brown rice
and fruit juice .
